I Promised

I know, I promised to show you these a long time ago, but I was so hyped up on the Prince of Persia stuff. Well, here they are now, my final compositions that made it into the county art show this year(I've got stuff in it for three years now.)





Hopefully the first one is Aang from Avatar and the second is my magnificent mannequin drawing. I've been screwing up the picture formatting lately, though I don't know why. Anyways, back to my stuff, Aang was sketched then painted, though I'm not sure what kind of paint. My former art teacher, Mrs. Henke(HI!) said it wasn't acrylic, and that it was a really tough one to use. The name just isn't coming up right now.
So, my second one, nicknamed Manny by my peers, was my pride and joy when I got it completed. And though I didn't see him for five months while my teacher stored him for the show, it was well worth it to hear the praise at his arrival. It's drawn in one of my best mediums, graphite(power to the pencils!), and a paint brush was used to smudge the shading. That technique is great, if you're wondering.
Going back to PoP, I found out that the sequels to Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones(both sound epic), are rated M. So I can't out and buy them on my own now! From what I hear on the IGN review, Warrior Within doesn't quite live up to the Prince of Persia name, but on the other review, Two Thrones knocks that one on its tail, but still doesn't comply with Sands of Time. That's the one I'm most interested in, because the Prince's story, saving his girl, whooping the baddies, is infused with an internal conflict, taking the form of a dark prince(:-0). The Wii game Rival Swords is an extended, less gory version of the same game that I will definitely be buying, along with Forgotten Sands.

He Is Royalty, After All

Make way for Dastan, Prince of Persia! Now as a minfigure!



So for those of you who have been paying attention to Lego's marketing and new sets, you will know this was the cheapest set in the Prince of Persia line. And, there probably won't be any more until the second PoP movie comes out. Oh yeah, that's right, there's gonna be a second one! Jerry Bruckheimer has signed a deal to make a trilogy of these movies, which is a little weird because the fourth game in the Sands of Time world, The Forgotten Sands, is out now. That's gonna be one of the big things I want for my B-day coming up on the 19, that and the Complete Season 2 set of Avatar on DVD. Go ahead and call me a nerd, but this is what I like, so deal with it.
So, back to these guys. Dastan is obviously the one with the two wickedly awesome swords, but the others are Hassansins, real BA villains in the movie. The one with the spikes on his hands and shoulders is Setam, an awesome member who can shoot spikes from his gloves and throws tons of them. The other, with the ax, well... I don't know his name, but he was cool in the movie as well. The best Hassansin is Zolm, the leader and handler of snakes. Supposedly, he can throw them out of his sleeves!
My aunt gave me some news about publishing. She has a friend who published her third book recently, so I can get details about the process now! Woo-hoo!

These are some minifigure stands I came up with myself. Unfortunately, I don't have the parts to make 80 of them, so only the best of my collection can make it on these, be they the rarest or coolest. I'll give you the rankings next time!

Let's Throw It Altogether

There's not really a specific theme to his post, so here goes. I was a little bored yesterday, the TV was taken, the computer was occupied, my brain had fizzled at the moment during my writing, so I came up with these beauties:





I, using musical theory, have created order out of chaos. Okay, sorry for the Sherlock Holmes pun, but I was so bored and then so into creating these that it seemed like a very eccentric thing to do at the time. Those are quarters too, if you can't see. I'm thinking about drawing something like that, now that I've made a sculpture like that. They're destroyed now because I ended up putting too much on there.
And now for my first official movie review! Wait, I did one for Iron Man 2, so I guess this isn't that large of an event. oh well, here's the Prince of Persia review:
There are definitely some things to work out with this movie. The story was a very fluid and fast-paced, with a lot of traveling in between spots of flashbacks and important moments. Yet it seemed a little too fluid. There was no time to wonder 'what's next' because it moved forward too quickly. No questions or buildup of plot was required from the audience because it set it up for you. Basically, a movie meant to entertain, and nothing else.
Jake G. and Gemma A.'s acting was superb. They definitely put a lot of thought into the dialogue and that is clear by the great chemistry their characters' relationship seen on screen. that was definitely part of the movie I enjoyed. And when it came to dramatic scenes, no boring monologues were included; it went off very well.
The action was grand. Just as promised by the commercials and trailers, the fighting, swordsmanship, miscellaneous weaponry, and parkhour seen here seems hard to beat in movies to come. And the effects, I'm talking about the dagger, are great. They definitely made the scenes more enjoyable, just to sit there and gape at the coolness of it.
This is a movie simply to entertain, and nothing less.
Yeah, because this is the same one I posted on Yahoo, there's not many spoilers here, so that's why I didn't throw in the alert. But if you want to find the official Yahoo review I wrote, you'll have to have fun on your own.
So I'm considering broadening my minifigure collection now. There's some new Lego PoP sets out, and some of the characters are just superb. Money's always a problem though, so I'm not sure when I'll do it.

Guess What I"m Going to Do Saturday!

I'm hittin' the movies, that's what! So me and a few of my buddies are planning to see Prince of Persia(if not already guessed by the giant poster of Prince Dastan up front on this post) on Saturday, and although it's a Mattinae, or however you spell that word, it's still going to be awesome to spend the first real day of summer hanging with my pals.
Speaking of summer starting, does anybody else notice all these weird celebration thingys they do on TV? I've heard stuff like, "the kick-off for summer!" "the unofficial start of summer!" "First real movie of the summer" Well, maybe the last one wasn't too bad, since it was on an Iron Man 2 TV spot. plus, there is a really convenient pairing of movies this weekend. Sex and the City 2 is premiering(ick), so the girls and guys can go see separate movies. That's exactly what my family's doing. Oh, you just gotta love summer. And it's only just started!
